about

The evidence-based synthesis of embodied user experiences in immersive (virtual) worlds presents itself as one of the most exciting avenues of research and development with a direct impact on people’s lives in a wide-range of sectors, be it for entertainment, education, research, engineering, or even general everyday professional and personal life. Currently, a systematic study of the immersive medium from a visual perception viewpoint is nascent at best.

Visual Perception Studies

This demonstration will present the results of an ongoing project, titled “Embodied Cognitive Experiences”, at the University of Bremen, and the University of Arts Bremen, Germany. The project is an interdisciplinary initiative involving researchers and students of cognitive science, spatial cognition, artificial intelligence, psychology, digital media, media studies, and design.

The main goal of the project is to: conduct evidence-based research in visuo-auditory and visuo-locomotive perception (involving multi-modal physiological data) aimed at studying the (embodied) reception and interpretation of dynamic visuospatial imagery and sensorimotor interactions in humans, and their implications in designing cognitive assistive technologies concerned with the synthesis of user experience in everyday, professional, and creative performance.
